Bringing Easter Home: Meals for Menasha Families

MENASHA — What started as an idea over a sip at a local bar and grill, came full circle this Easter. Trim Hunger delivered meals to families in need in Menasha, thanks to funds raised from several local bars, grills and breweries. It’s amazing to think how many people were involved to make this holiday a little brighter for others.

Special delivery: ham, pie and a side of kindness

Trim Hunger reached out to Menasha High School to identify families who could use a little extra support this season. Our amazing Trim Hunger volunteers took care of the rest — shopping, bagging, and delivering Easter meals directly to the school just in time for the holiday.

We’re so thankful for Jill, Sherri and Paul who took the lead on this one. First they shopped for groceries with a special list in hand. They filled their carts with items to make a complete meal. Each one included a ham, dinner rolls, potatoes, cherry pie, and a little Easter candy to sweeten the day. The volunteers took care of putting the meals together and dropping them at the high school before the start of the holiday weekend.

tHE BEGINNING OF AN IDEA TO help FEED FAMILIES in need

The Trim Hunger Easter meals were actually a year in the making! Funds came from the sale of “passport books” at 11 Menasha taverns and restaurants. The owners of Prime Time Bar and Grill approached Trim Hunger last spring with the idea to raise money for children facing food insecurity in Menasha. In just a month and a half, the sale of the Menasha passport books raised $1600 for Trim Hunger!

“When anyone reaches out to me and asks if there’s any way we can help families at any time of the year, I can’t help but jump at it,” said Trim Hunger founder Josif Wittnik. Every stamp, every stop, and every supporter made this possible and shows what can happen when a community comes together.

Together, we made Easter a little brighter for neighbors who needed it most.
