Trim Hunger will reach out to community leaders, local salon and spa owners, grocery stores and other businesses to be involved through donations, volunteerism, and corporate sponsorship at both the local and national level. The Salon Professional Academy and Elevate Salon Institute franchise locations, as well as individual salons, across the country have organized a nationwide fundraising effort to bring awareness to the issue of feeding the hungry in America. Events will take place year round, culminating in a month-long effort in September (National Hunger Action Month) to raise funds and awareness for the hunger problem facing our country.
TRIM HUNGER will be promoted and supported through print campaigns, national and local websites, social media, area chambers of commerce, local media outlets, governmental agencies, and partner and distribution networks in the beauty industry.
A dedicated grass-roots campaign through social media will be employed through the use of [hashtag] #orangethumbie. As part of a growing trend of painting thumbnails the official color of the cause they support, TRIM HUNGER participants will be invited to share a “selfie” on social media with their “orange thumbie” while participating in any charitable act for hunger awareness.
Our goal is to raise enough dollars at the corporate level to support our administrative and promotional efforts; thereby allowing 100% of all funds raised at the local level to go directly to food programs in the community. Every person involved with this program is a volunteer and there are no paid roles associated with any part of TRIM HUNGER.
Trim Hunger is seeking partnerships with those groups interested in helping feed the hungry. 100% of corporate donations will go to the facilitation of this program including costs for printing, online management, promotions, and operations as well as to hunger programs across the country.
